The Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific’s (REHAB) team is closely monitoring the status of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Hawaii and abroad and have prepared our facilities appropriately.  With this in mind, we are updating our facilities' procedures, which will go into effect on September 29, 2023. Thank you for your support in helping to keep everyone at REHAB as safe as possible. 

Updates are in bold

Inpatient Updates

  • Inpatients will be allowed two (2) visitors at a time.
  • Visitors must not come to the facility if they are ill or not feeling well. 
  • Masking is welcome, but optional.
  • Visiting hours will be limited to: 
    • Monday - Friday: 2 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (Updated - 12/06/2023)
    • Saturday - Sunday and holidays: 11:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
    • Holidays include New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Kamehameha Day, Independence Day, Admissions Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
  • Patients and visitors who are in violation of the visitor policy may be subject to suspended visiting privileges.
  • Visitors must be 2 years of age or older. All children must be supervised by an adult at all times. 
  • All inpatient visitors must sign in at the “inpatient visitor sign in” kiosk.

Nuuanu Campus Outpatient:

  • Patients and caregivers must not come to the facility if they are ill or not feeling well.
    • If patients are observed to have cold or flu like symptoms, they may be asked to reschedule their appointment.
    • If caregivers are observed to have cold or flu like symptoms, they will be asked to wait outside the facility.
  • Masking is welcome, but optional.

Outpatient Satellite Clinic Updates

  • Patients and caregivers must not come to the facility if they are ill or not feeling well.
    • If patients are observed to have cold or flu like symptoms, they may be asked to reschedule their appointment.
    • If caregivers are observed to have cold or flu like symptoms, they will be asked to wait outside the facility.
  • All outpatients, caregivers and vendors must check in with clinic clerks for screening.  
  • Masking is welcome, but optional. 

Vendor/Contractor Updates

  • Vendors and contractors should continue to not come to the facility if they are ill or not feeling well.
  • Vendors and contractors must wear a mask when entering a patient’s room or when working near a patient.

Hospital Wide Updates

  • Individuals who are not feeling well or have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days must not enter any REHAB campus. 
  • REHAB reserves the right to require masking as needed on a case-by-case basis.

  • Everyone entering a REHAB facility must wear a face covering prior to entering and at all times while on campus including patient and private rooms. Face coverings with valves are not acceptable. Visitors will be provided with masks if they do not have one.
  • Individuals who are not feeling well or have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days must not enter any REHAB campus.

  • The outpatient waiting area has been moved directly adjacent to the Nuuanu Clinic.

The Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific’s (REHAB) team is closely monitoring the status of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Hawaii and abroad and have prepared our facilities appropriately.  With this in mind, we are updating our facilities procedures, which will go into effect on November 13, 2022.

Inpatient Updates

Inpatient visitation is temporarily canceled. No visitors are allowed until further notice.

Nuuanu Campus Outpatient/Vendor Updates

  • All outpatients, caregivers and vendors must check in with security for screening. Entrance will be denied if they have a fever or do not pass the screening questions.  If entry is allowed, a visitor badge and/or daily screening sticker will be provided and must be worn at all times. 
  • Caregivers will be asked to wait in their cars after check-in unless they must be present for the safety of the patient (e.g., push the wheelchair, assist with walking, etc.). 
  • Only one (1) caregiver is allowed in the clinic per patient.
  • The outpatient waiting area has been moved directly adjacent to the Nuuanu Clinic. 

Outpatient Satellite Clinic Updates

  • All outpatients, caregivers and vendors must check in with clinic clerks for screening.  Entrance will be denied if they have a fever or do not pass the screening questions.

Inpatients will be allowed one (1) visitor at a time.

  • Patients and visitors who are in violation of the visitor policy may be subject to suspended visiting privileges
  • Visiting hours will be limited to 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Visitors must be 18 years of age or older.
  • All visitors must register and will be required to pass screening questions and have their temperature screened via a contactless infrared thermometer at the security table at the front of the hospital prior to entry. 
  • If entry is allowed, a visitor badge and/or wristband will be provided and must be worn at all times.   
  • Visitors who are ill or do not pass the screening questions will not be allowed entrance to the hospital.
  • Visitors must stay in the patient room they are visiting and wear a face covering for the duration of their visit.  Face coverings with valves are not acceptable.

Due to the current status of COVID-19, REHAB’s visiting hours will be changed to 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. effective Saturday, August 14, 2021. The safety of all remains REHAB’s top priority. We are continuously monitoring the situation with COVID-19 in Hawaii, which may impact our visitor policy and procedures at any time. 

At this time, we have also cancelled group classes effective Monday, August 15, 2021 until further notice.

REHAB's Outpatient Clinics in Hilo and Aiea will reopen on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020 with health and safety modifications in place. The clinics were temporarily closed in response to federal, state, and city recommendations during COVID-19.

An extension of the hospital’s main campus in Nuuanu, the clinics offer patient services such as physical therapy and occupational therapy. The clinics will first open with temporarily modified hours. For the latest hours, visit rehabhospital.org/locations.

REHAB at Hilo and Physicians Clinic

As a result of COVID-19, we’ve had to make the difficult decision of:

  • Temporarily closing REHAB at Hilo (effective 4/13/2020). Should you have any questions, please call (808) 961-5776 and leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
  • Temporarily reducing the hours of the Physicians Clinic (effective immediately) to Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (closed Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) until further notice.

In response to federal, state and city recommendations, our operational changes have been updated to the following, effective Monday, June 01, 2020. Updates to previous changes are in bold. 

Hospital Wide Updates

  • All visitors, vendors and outpatients will be required to answer screening questions and have their temperature screened via a contactless infrared thermometer at the security table at the front of the hospital. Entrance will be denied if they are ill or do not pass the screening questions. If entry is allowed, a visitor badge will be provided and must be worn at all times.
  • Hospital entrances will be limited to the Information desk entrance near the Physicians Clinic.
  • All visitors, staff, vendors and outpatients must wear a face covering prior to entering and while on campus. 
  • Social distancing measures, including six-feet floor markers are in place and must be followed. 
  • Non-essential business should not be conducted on REHAB campus.
  • Communal areas including dining areas, the gift shop, art lanai continue to be closed until further notice.
  • Wellness Programs such as REHAB Strong are temporarily closed until further notice. 
    Community events, including but not limited to Stroke Club, the Art Program and Make em’ Smile continue to be postponed until further notice.

Inpatient Updates

  • Inpatients will be allowed one (1) visitor per patient per day. 
  • Visitors must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Visitors who are ill or do not pass screening questions will not be allowed entrance to the hospital.
  • Visiting hours will be limited to 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Outpatient/Vendor Updates

  • All outpatients, caregivers and vendors must check in with security for screening. 
  • Caregivers will be asked to wait in their cars after check-in. 
  • The outpatient waiting area has been moved directly adjacent to the Nuuanu Clinic. 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Updates

In an effort to build on existing supplies, REHAB is accepting PPE donations from the community. Details are listed below. Mahalo for your support!

The Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific’s (REHAB) team is continuing to monitor the status of COVID-19 in Hawaii and abroad and is taking actions to prepare our facilities appropriately.  As the situation continues to progress, we’ve made updates to our previous facilities changes, which will go into effect on April 1, 2020.  Mahalo for everyone’s continued flexibility and understanding.
