As we age, it may become difficult to see people, objects and signs due to decreased peripheral vision and/or glare from rain and headlights of oncoming cars.

Tips for Driving Safely with Vision Problems:

  • See your eye doctor at least once a year for a check-up.
  • Make sure your prescription is up-to-date and accurate.  Always wear corrective eyewear while driving, if directed by physician.
  • Reduce or stop driving at night if you have difficulty seeing in the dark.

REHAB’s Drivers Program provides a comprehensive evaluation to assess one’s ability to continue driving or return to driving.  Our team of Driver Rehabilitation Specialists are trained to recognize the impact of aging, disabilities and other risk factors that may limit ability to drive safely.  For more information on REHAB’s Drivers Program, visit https://www.rehabhospital.org/programs/drivers-program.
