First of a series of adaptive cycling events through a partnership with Adaptive Adventures and other community partners
WHEN:
First event is on Saturday, March 18, 2023, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Four 1 hour sessions. Space is limited but more events are being planned for 2023).
WHERE:
Paki Community Park (near the Zoo and Kapiolani Park)
WHY:
A kick-off for this community program that provides participants with physical disabilities, their families, and caregivers a chance to enjoy camaraderie with others who have similar challenges, while enjoying the outdoors.

REHAB Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB), Adaptive Adventures, and other community partners will be holding their first adaptive cycling event at Paki Community Park (near the Zoo and Kapiolani Park). Participants will participate in an adaptive cycling (route) using equipment provided by Adaptive Adventures. The goal is to give those with physical disabilities a chance to experience adaptive cycling with the support of trained physical therapists and other volunteers.
“With our beautiful weather and collective spirit of togetherness, Hawaii is the perfect place for adaptive sports and we are thrilled and excited to have our first adaptive cycling event on Oahu,” said Stephanie Nadolny, President and CEO of REHAB. “There is incredible value that resources and programs like these have for our communities and we look forward to providing more opportunities for people with disabilities and their families and loved ones.”
Participants must be able to self-transfer up or down by 12+ inches and must be comfortable in group spaces with noise, be 18 years or older, and wear a helmet when utilizing the adaptive cycling bicycles. All participants and volunteers must register prior to the event.
