REHAB Announces FREE Pulmonary Recovery Program to Help Those Impacted by Respiratory Illnesses

Wednesday, December 6, 2023

This month, REHAB Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB) announced that for a limited time, participation in their Pulmonary Recovery Circuit Program (PRCP) is free. This wellness program is designed to help participants with respiratory conditions learn effective ways to improve stamina and rebuild confidence in their breathing.

“Not being able to breathe confidently impacts every area of a person’s life,” shared Stephanie Nadolny, President and CEO of REHAB Hospital of the Pacific. “That’s why we are so excited to offer the PRCP for free–with the help of our therapy team, more members of our community can get back to living their lives to the fullest.”

With respiratory illnesses like Long COVID and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in mind, REHAB’s therapy team educates participants on ways to control shortness of breath, conserve energy, and use progressive muscle relaxation techniques. Classes are held twice a week in the Wellness Gym at REHAB’s Nuuanu Campus, and additional sessions can be scheduled as needed to fit participants’ schedules.

“This program has given me my life back,” said Marty Moriguchi, a current participant in the program. “I had a heart attack and was having trouble breathing…it has gotten so much better.” Other participants highlighted the encouragement and guidance of REHAB’s program staff, “I don’t know anywhere else that I would get this amount of supervision, they guide us and measure our progress and that makes me feel safe.”

To register for this free program, visit rehabhospital.link/PRCP or call the REHAB Wellness Team at 808.566.3762.
