Home assessments are conducted to evaluate home environments for safety and accessibility issues. REHAB therapists will provide recommendations and offer practical and functional solutions to make living at home easier and safer for clients with physical limitations.
REHAB’s occupational therapists recommend adaptive equipment that maximizes client’s independence in performing activities of daily living. In addition, we assist clients with ordering the appropriate equipment and provide training on the proper use of equipment. Examples of popular adaptive equipment include sock aides, adaptive eating utensils, walking assistive devices and grabbers/reachers.
Orthotic/Prosthetic Fitting and/or Fabrication
Occupational therapists provide individualized fitting and fabrication of hand, wrist and finger splints to either protect the joint or assist in function. REHAB’s physical therapist will work in conjunction with a trained prosthetist for proper fitting and functional use of braces and prostheses, such as artificial limbs. REHAB provides training in using the prosthesis, including donning/doffing, gait/stair training and balance training.
